The value and purpose of outreach is that God really loves people and wants to be in community with them, and he wants us to love them and be in community with them as well. Outreach is about going to people in order to be inclusive—not waiting for them to come to us. That’s why we value going and serving people. The power of serving (or “Servant Evangelism”) is that it allows people to feel accepted. We go and love them and don’t point out their faults. We desire to demonstrate acceptance and say, “God loves you, right where you are…with no strings attached.”

...only in community can we know and be known, love and be loved, celebrate others and be celebrated by them. And only through genuine relationships can we be transformed as individuals. At River Valley, we desire to enjoy the rewards (and embrace the risks) of community. We believe life-change happens best in small groups.

We believe that a first impression is the deciding factor as to whether or not you have the opportunity to give a second impression. We are comprised of volunteers who create and fun and inviting experience for people so they can be 'surprised' by God's love.We offer several ways for you to volunteer:

Coffee - assist in brewing, filling and re-filling airpots, keeping coffee stations filled with sugar, creamer, etc, and clean-up

Greeter - smile, hand out programs, answer general questions for first-time visitors, assist with directions

Usher - assist people in seating and take up the offering

Book Shop/CD Ministry - duplicate and sell message CDs and assist in book sales

As a team member, we ask that you are punctual and reliable, and that you participate in hospitality team development opportunities.

Prayer intersects with everything we do at River Valley. We offer various opportunities both to pray
and be prayed for.

Celebration/Service Prayer: come to the front of the auditorium after any service. Someone will be waiting to pray with you.

Prayer Request Form: a form is located in the pocket of each chairback if you would like to make a request in a more anonymous manner. Forms can be dropped off in the prayer box in the lobby as you exit the rear of the auditorium.

Emergency Prayer Chain: this team of people assists in prayer as emergency or crisis needs arise.

Nurture Network: this group serves those in temporary crisis situations by providing meals, and some house/yardwork. Call the church at 740.947.8004 for further assistance.
